Port St. Lucie —  An electrically charged paradise.

PGA_8th_hole_Port_StPort Saint Lucie, a city located in St. Lucie County, is part of a four-county region called the Treasure Coast. If golf, boating and beautiful weather are the treasure you are looking for, then Port Saint Lucie is the place to be.

St. Lucie County lies between Indian River County to the north, Martin County to the South, and Okeechobee County to the West.  St. Lucie County’s 588 square miles contain three municipalities consisting of Port St Lucie, White City, and Fort Pierce.   St. Lucie County’s average annual temperature of 73.2 degrees offers superb year round climate for work and play.

Port Saint Lucie residents get most of their electric service from Florida Power & Light (FPL).  FPL has kept its typical residential customer bills among the very lowest of all 55 electric utilities in Florida. It has done so by investing in more efficient power generation technology than its competitors.  FPL’s operating costs are the lowest of all utilities in the country with more than 100,000 customers.  These improvements saved FPL customers approximately half a billion dollars in fuel costs in 2010 alone.  FPL has saved more megawatts than nearly any other utility in the country.

Port Saint Lucie’s History

Port Saint Lucie had its beginning in 1961 when General Development Corporation incorporated the City of Port Saint Lucie and began improvements on the area. The Atlantic Ocean to the east and the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, have long attracted vacationers and prospective residents as well.  The largest Treasure Coast city, Port St. Lucie encompasses seventy-seven square miles, of which only 41% is developed.

Port Saint Lucie’s future is brightened due to the projects like Saint Lucie West, the largest development on the Treasure Coast. It is comprised of 12 residential villages as well as commercial, and industrial areas in the 7-square-mile, billion dollar project. St Lucie West is a uniquely self-contained community set on 4,600 beautiful acres of lakes, golf courses, a major baseball stadium and beautiful homes.  County Club Estates, Kings Isle, Lake Charles, The Reserve and Lake Forest are just a few of the protected small town neighborhoods found here. Florida Atlantic University has its Treasure Coast campus in Port Saint Lucie.

Port Saint Lucie’s  size is approximately 112 square miles, 3rd largest in area of the State, with an additional 20 square miles within its Urban Service Boundary. The City has a wide range of housing options. Several large subdivisions were developed in 2005, including River Place, St. James Club, The Cascades, Lake Forest, Portofino Isles, and Tesoro.

Port St. Lucie offers a quality of life that few can match. We are located on the Southeast Coast of Florida with 14 miles of the St. Lucie River flowing through the central area of the city. On our eastern side we have the 6,000 acre Savannas preserve, the Indian River Lagoon estuary, and the Atlantic Ocean.Treasure Coast beach lifestyle

Port St. Lucie offers acres of natural habitat, the winter home of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) with a new golf school, and Club Med at Sandpiper Bay, one of two family-oriented Club Med’s in the country.

What began as a predominantly residential “bedroom community” is now undergoing a transition, becoming a dynamic and diverse city. With its low density and affordable land, Port St. Lucie is appealing to business owners looking to move to a centrally located area.
